Preset ground balance is standard thus the signal reflected from mineralization in the ground will not cause false alarms.

What about Target Discrimination?

The Bounty Hunter Quick Silver comes with a very easy to setup variable notch target rejection feature that is a way easier form of discrimination then tuning knobs.  A simple press of the Target Reject button will place an X on the display underneath the target that will be rejected.  This feature is useful if the hobbyist is not interested in digging up iron nails if only coin shooting.  However, it should be explained that some rings and other valuable items might have a reflected signal similar to the rejected targets thus those valuable items would not cause an alarm.  The Quick Silver is powered by two 9 Volt batteries and comes equipped with a low battery indicator.
